Fishing with an Internet Net

We had an all-day meeting last Tuesday about a ministry designed to use the internet to find God-seekers. But before we talk about that, first, we have an update on the English Club ministry!

We just finished the fourth week at the location in south Zagreb. Two more weeks to go (and then six more weeks at another location). It's gone by fast, and the kids think so too. We're planning some followup get-togethers with them in the future.

We had 11 kids this week since one of them brought her cousin with her this time. It's nice to know they feel like they can invite friends and family.

We split into two groups this year. An older and a younger group. This is the older group.

And this is most of our younger group closing their eyes while I prepare our activity.

Please keep praying for what God is doing through this ministry. The kids and parents ask a lot of questions about why we do this when we're not asking for money. We get to show them a new side of God every time we answer.

On Tuesday, we met with some American missionaries from Bosnia. They noticed something that you have probably noticed as well. Evangelism can be very slow-going.

They asked themselves some hard questions, went to the Bible for answers, and came to some conclusions.

1) Fishing with a net is more effective than a pole.

2) Fishing for a certain kind of fish is more effective than having no idea what kind of fish you're fishing for.

I'm going to try to keep this blog short and still explain this well; here it goes.

We can reach many more people with a video on the internet (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) than we can face-to-face. The internet is where people are, and (wise or not) it's where they're looking for answers. What's more, is you can customize your video to be seen by those people who are looking for answers. It's the modern day equivalent of preaching in the synagogue/forum.

The great thing about how this ministry is designed is that it doesn't leave things at just a video. The goal is always to get someone seeking God face-to-face with a believer.

What we really need from you is prayer. This is a big step for the church here, and Satan is already trying to drag it down. Pray for wisdom, patience, and courage.

The hope right now is to start this summer. A lot has to happen before then, but we believe God can do it.
